With opening up the original cramped lay-out to the dining room, this Walnut Creek kitchen received a major make-over. The goal was both to give it an open airy feel and connect it to the rest of the house. Great attention was giving to the mixture of materials while keeping it light in color and texture. The laminate cabinets for the main kitchen are white and the countertop cement gray. The island cabinets on the other hand are light gray with an oak countertop, which matches the open shelving next to the window. The floor features long field tiles, which are interspersed with deco tile enhancing the distressed military green look. And the backsplash with its gray convex/concave ceramic tile and contrasting dark grout color creates an eye-catching backdrop.
